After being pulled from releasing last year, Bennett Miller’s highly anticipated “Moneyball” follow-up “Foxcatcher” will finally find its way to theaters this year, with a stopover for a world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month.
On the heels of that announcement, today a new trailer for the true-life thriller has dropped, and wows us once again with how much the entire cast – Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo – have transformed themselves to play these characters. Carell, of course, is the most unrecognizable, playing an eccentric billionaire with a fixation on Olympic wrestling who builds a state-of-the-art facility on his land for athletes – including Tatum and Ruffalo, who play World Champ brothers – to train. Ultimately his frail psyche betrays him and he ends up murdering someone in cold blood.
Sony Pictures Classics will release the film sometime this year, with no specific release date set yet, but we’ll get the first word on it when it premieres at Cannes in May.
